Biography

Sean R. Weissbart counsels clients on a variety of trusts and estates matters, including estate and tax planning, administration of trusts and estates, and all aspects of litigation in Surrogate's Court. His practice also includes advising tax-exempt organizations and trustees of charitable trusts on formation, applications for exemption, compliance with federal and state tax-exemption laws, and avoidance of excise taxes and the unrelated business income tax.Mr. Weissbart is also an adjunct professor of law at Fordham University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on trusts and estates drafting. His articles have been featured in industry journals, including Estate Planning magazine. Currently, he serves on the executive committee of the trusts and estates law section of the New York State Bar Association and is associate editor of the section's quarterly trusts and estates journal. As an active member of the New York York City community, Mr. Weissbart serves on the Leadership Committee of the Young Lawyers Division of the UJA Federaation of New York and is the recipient of MFY Legal Services' Justice Award for outstanding pro bono representation. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Weissbart was an associate at the law firm of Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP in New York City. Currently, he is a candidate for an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
